On December 11, 2016, the memory of Saint God-crowned Nikiforos Fokas was celebrated in Armeni, Rethymno, on the initiative of Pattakomanolis and KOURITES. They donated a shrine where His icon was placed, with the blessings and presence of His Eminence, the Metropolitan of Rethymno, and Avlopotamos, Mr. Eugenios. The village community consists of a church council, a local council, a cultural society, the "ARKADI" Music and Dance Association, the Cretan Coat Wearers' Association, and the Association of Farmers of the Prefecture of Rethymno "Agios Georgios."
