In the same month, Pattakomanolis met with the representatives of the Armenian village of Rethymnon (ecclesiastical, local, and cultural council) and presented them with a proposal of the highest religious and historical importance concerning the Holiness of Nikiforos Fokas. This initiative aimed at publicizing the sanctity of King Nikiforos Fokas who, 1055 years ago, began his fight for the liberation of Crete from the Saracens. Pattakomanolis sought to establish the celebration of his grace officially on December 11 every year, as defined by the Holy Book of our Church.
