2014

In March 2014, KOURITES were chosen to represent Greece at the 2nd International Festival in Damanhour, Egypt. Then, they traveled to Alexandria, following the footsteps of Alexander the Great, to honor the invitation of the Consul General of Greece in Alexandria, Christos Kapodistrias.

At the Patriarchate, the Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and all Africa, Mr. Theodore II, welcomed KOURITES and honored Pattakomanolis with the "Golden Lion of the Order of Saint Mark."

Also, His Beatitude was deeply moved and gave him the patriarchal crosier that he himself carried on his tours inland.

The Society, in turn, donated to His Beatitude a Cretan knife of unique art and value in a hand-carved case inspired by a Church icon. On the knife were carved saints and heroes of Crete, as well as the figure of the Patriarch.
